Blue & Gold Brewing Co. — The Beer Can

Launching a New Product 

Real Problem

 Blue & Gold Brewing Co. is a student-led business at Marquette University. Students work alongside industry professionals to develop, market, sell, produce, and distribute beer and coffee products. Students are involved in every aspect of bringing real products to market that are sold through retailers across the region. Blue & Gold Brewing Co. came to Carl Collective to help develop and launch its spring 2023 beer product, called The Beer Can. The Beer Can paid tribute to McCormick Hall, one of Marquette University’s most famous former landmark which had a “beer can” cylindrical shape and nickname. The dorm opened in 1968 and housed more than 36,000 freshmen over the years before closing in 2018.

 

 

Solution

The Carl Collective student-run agency designed the iconic Beer Can label, an impressive design that pays tribute to McCormick Hall’s nickname. The students also created a launch video, which was their most difficult assignment thus far. The students conceived an amazing idea that used beer cans to reveal the iconic McCormick Hall shape, with dramatic lighting and camera moves. The Beer Can was sold through regional liquor stores and at the Fiserv Forum.
